<!-- /*--><!--/*--> A Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose: Wednesday's Weekly Haiku

Wednesday's Weekly Haiku

Ok, so I realize that Valentine's Day was yesterday, but in honor of that lovely, sappy holiday, I thought I'd write a Haiku about love :-). It's funny how your view of Valentine's Day changes over the years. I've always been--and will always be--a sucker for love, but when I was dating in high school and college, it used to tear at my heart to be alone on Valentine's Day. Like a heart-sick Juliet, I would sigh and dream about the day when I'd have a true valentine with whom to share the day . . .

Fast forward several years later, and last night my Valentine's Day looked quite a bit like the Valentine's of old: just me, season 1 of Downton Abbey, and something girly to eat (e.g. chicken salad). In typical fashion, Dr. Carr was on-call for the night, helping save the (literal) broken hearts of the world (or at least of Metro Atlanta). Considering that this is our eighth Valentine's Day together, I was just fine with that :-).

Alas, he proved himself to still be a romantic, and found time yesterday to sneak home from the hospital and leave me red roses and a sweet card! That was quite a nice surprise when I got home from work :-). So, without further ado, here's today's poem:

Valentine

Soft kiss of lovers,

Fresh as the rose's petal--

Love, that transcends time.
